Osteria dell'Ingegno Campo Marzio

The second restaurant we recommend for outdoor dining is the Osteria dell’Ingegno in the Campo Marzio neighborhood of the historic city center and just a few steps from Piazza Navona and the Trevi Fountain. You can reach it by the Metro A at the stop Barberini, from there, it’s only a 15-minute stroll through the ruin- and landmark-lined streets. You can dine al fresco in the shade of an ancient temple dedicated to Emperor Hadrian, in piazza di Pietra 45 and admire the beautiful show of light and projections that illuminate the marvelous colonnade in the evening.

It’s located on the corner of the picturesque and very central via della Scrofa. You can reach it by the Metro A, from the Spagna stop, it’s less than 20-minute walk. The restaurant is famous for its fettuccine of the same moniker that has been spread around the world, as well as for the photos on the wood-paneled walls of celebrities who’ve dined there. 1. Spiazzo – Via Antonio Pacinotti, 83 – Tel. 375 5683391

Ristorante Spiazzo Ostiense

The fifth and final restaurant we recommend for relaxing outside while dining is Spiazzo, a venue in the former industrial area of Mulini Biondi, near the Iron Bridge with a very amble and quiet outdoor dining area in the Ostiense neighborhood. A few steps away you can marvel at the Gazometer, a monumental structure from 1937, now abandoned, which was intended to measure the volume of gas in the city. Reach Spiazzo by the Metro B, at the Piramide stop, then hop on the 718 bus and in 5 minutes you’ll be there.

Spiazzo is the gourmet pizzeria under the reign of the master pizza-maker Alessio Mattaccini. Here you can have excellent pizzas, with flavors and styles typical to the capital city: crunchy, crumbly and topped with interesting combinations of good quality ingredients.

Brothers Fabio and Alessio Mattaccini have created an ideal place to peacefully enjoy one of the many pizzas on the menu ranging from the classics to surprising inventions, as well as the homemade fried appetizers, the crunchy ruoti, or the pan-baked Roman style pizzas. In addition to the evening fare, there is also the Mid Weekend Lunch featuring home-made burgers and CBT meat dishes.
